TV Santa Barbara Extends Partnership with the City of Carpinteria

On Tuesday, March 25, 2024 the Carpinteria City Council voted unanimously to extend the broadcast Agreement between the City of Carpinteria and the South Coast Community Media Access Center (CMAC dba TV Santa Barbara) for five additional years.

TV Santa Barbara will also expand professional video coverage for all meetings taking place at Carpinteria City Hall to include, but not be limited to Carpinteria City Council, Carpinteria School Board, Carpinteria Water Board, Carpinteria Fire, Carpinteria Architectural Board of Review, and the Carpinteria Planning Commission. TVSB will also provide additional Zoom services.

“Government meeting broadcasts play a crucial role in promoting transparency, accountability, and public participation in the decision-making process and we are excited to continue and expand our partnership with the City of Carpinteria,” said Erik Davis, Executive Director of TV Santa Barbara. “By providing access to these meetings, citizens can stay informed about government actions, policies, and discussions that directly impact their lives. This transparency fosters trust in the government and ensures that decisions are made in the best interest of the public. Additionally, government meeting broadcasts serve as a valuable tool for promoting democracy and civic engagement by allowing citizens to witness the democratic process in action.”

TV Santa Barbara (TVSB) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization which operates two community access television channels, 17 and 71. TVSB’s mission is to empower people to make media that matters. TVSB does this by providing residents with the knowledge, resources, and tools to create their own original programming. TV Santa Barbara has served as the local media access center since 1975.
With studios at 329 S. Salinas Street, TVSB provides members with access to video production equipment and electronic media resources to facilitate public dialogue, free speech, and participatory democracy; to foster local creativity, education and culture; and to reflect our diverse and amazing community.
